Scania Tanzania Ltd launches a new truck range, the P-, G- and R-seriesScania’s world wide success of the 4-series truck is now followed by a new global truck range with the broadest heavy truck offer ever in Scania's 116-year history. Three truck series with 50% more cabs to choose from and an extended range of Euro 3 engines from 230 hp all the way up 580 hp help customers match specifications precisely to their transport needs.

This is another great moment for us” says Mr Anders Liss, MD of Scania Tanzania Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Scania AB Sweden. “For each truck the customer can choose from different cab models, power trains and chassis types. The multitude of chassis options includes a range of wheelbases, wheel configurations, suspension types, chassis heights and bodywork preparations. The new cab range features all-new interiors with high-quality fittings and excellent ergonomics.”

The MD continued by elaborating on the P- ,G- ,and R- series by saying ”The P-series has the lowest boarding height and is suitable for multi-drop distribution work; the G-series with its spacious interior and numerous options, it covers a broad range of applications from long-haulage to the toughest of on- and off-road construction and mining operations; the R-series is Scania's top-of-the-line model with even more interior space and generous options including the powerful and prestigious V8 engines.” “Fuel economy is up to usual Scania standards, traditionally best in each segment, while meeting Euro 3 standards. Euro 4 and Euro 5 engines can be supplied on request”, Mr Anders Liss added.

“We believe that the vehicle we have here for our launch, the G-series rigid truck with 420 hp and air suspension rear with hub reduction on the drive axle, will be the best seller in Tanzania.”, the MD stated. “These units also are fully loaded with our gear changing system Opticruise, additional hydraulic brake system Retarder and AC.”

Mr Liss finished by saying that: “Reliability and low operating cost is the key attributes for these new series and this will help our customers to grow even more in the future.”

The new series were immediately available for ordering after the successful launch that took place at Karimjee hall on the 22nd of November 2007.
